Mercy Oluchi Statter-Okoro


Co-Founder and Trustee of Martha's Dream. At the age of 19 left Nigeria and lived in Japan for 9 years. Returned briefly to Nigeria before getting married and moving to UK in 2000. She currently lives in Morecambe, UK,  and runs her own Cleaning business. She is the youngest daughter of the late Martha Okoro, the inspiration for Martha's Dream. 

Mike Statter 


Co founder and Trustee of Martha's Dream. After serving 5 years in the Royal Engineers, founded a career as a Carpenter & Joiner for the next 21 years. The last 5 years has seen a career change and now supports adults with a variety of needs. From September 2017 will be studying for a BA Hons degree in English Language and Linguistics at UCLAN. 

Luca Canal


Luca comes originally from Italy and is an engineering student at Lancaster University. He joined Martha's dream as trustee in 2017, after meeting mercy at his part time job. He is currently undertaking a year of working experience in the Energy generation sector and looks after the internet presence of the charity, as well as the organisational side, liaising with the Nigerian staff.  

Lisa Smith


"My name is Lisa and I've been living in Lancaster with my two children, for over 6 years now.  During my time here, I have gained experience, working mainly in the voluntary sector, as a trustee and project worker for a local food bank and homeless shelter.  I became a trustee with Martha's Dream about a year ago and have assisted, on a number of occasions, with the planning and arrangement of the yearly fundraising event."

Emmanuel Ikechi Okoro

On-site project coordinator 

Emmanuel is Martha's son, was born and lives in Nigeria,in a village close to Ekenobizi. He is the coordinator of the project on-site,

Chinzana Ukabiala

Nursery 2 and 3 Teacher

 "I am a native of Obowo in Imo State, I am a graduate in Secreterial Studies from Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Afikpo Ebonyi State I have been into teaching before my youth service, I have thought in 3 schools one of them is Carry Motessory International School. Martha's Dream Academy is a nice school, although is a new school, I am there to impact knowledge in to the life of the children and l  will put in my best to see that the pupils will keep learning and grow well."

Deborah Ifeoma Onuwuka

Primary 1 and 2 Teacher 

"My name is Onwuka Deborah Ifeoma, I'm a Nigerian, I hail from Abia State. I am currently a staff at Martha's Dream Academy Umuzam, Abia State. Prior to my appointment as a teaching staff in Martha's Dream Academy, I have worked as a staff in some other schools and have gained experience. Coming to Martha's Dream Academy, my experience so far has been great and will go a long way in my teaching career to enable me give the pupils sound education and good moral upbringing."
